TO REMEMBER A FRIEND
CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS XDP FESTIVAL PROJECT
Working with the creative team, I created the concept for a multi color landscape of memory shown against a natural base landscape. I created the lighting layout in Maya and then baked the lighting onto the textures provided by the creative team. Next, I moved the baked lighting into the Unity file with a toon shader material for the outline aesthetic we wanted. With almost all baked lighting and one real time light, the game can run smoothly at the desired frames per second and still have the dimensionality we wanted.
The year is 2040. A young woman named Jane Watson has been murdered in her apartment. No one knows what happened... but you plan to find out.
You play as Whitlock, a rookie detective undergoing an experimental consciousness transfer procedure in exchange with the comatose sole witness to the murder.
In this virtual reality narrative adventure game, you must work to uncover what really happened to Jane Watson, but just remember that memory is fluid, and those around you all have an agenda...
